Chapter 01

Overview

The custom calls for a verse whose first letter matches a name's first letter and whose last letter matches its last — traditionally found by memory or by paging through a concordance. This app indexes all 23,206 verses of the Tanakh (with Rashi) locally and returns matches instantly, including verses that contain the name outright and, for two or three names, consecutive-verse pairs. Everything runs from one FastAPI service serving a bundled corpus — no external API, no network dependency at runtime, installable as an offline-first PWA.
